Paint!

A quick paint job is the fastest and least expensive way to make fast impact in any room. You can paint an existing focal wall one shade brighter or richer than the existing color, or punch it up with drama. If you don't want that big of a project, how about painting the backside of bookshelves, a key piece of furniture, or even all the picture frames in the room the same delicious color.

Inexpensive option: Add sheers.

Those cold looking windows aren't making your holiday decorating look any warmer. So add some sheer curtains to your windows to raise the visual temperature. Sheers are inexpensive, easy to install and can be added over existing blinds, or under custom draperies.

Add comfort.

Winter decorating is about comfort and coziness, so when decorating for the holidays, bring that into each and every room. Make quick and easy throw blankets from yardage fleece. Simply use scissors to cut fringe in each end of your yardage piece. I like to use at least a yard and a half for a decent sized throw. Add holiday color with your throw, or keep it neutral so you can keep using them all winter long. Winter white is always a great option, and it goes with anything. Watch for coupons at your local fabric store this time of year. If you buy all the yardage in one color and then cut it yourself, your coupon should apply to the entire order.

De-clutter!

This is an easy one folks. Get a box. Walk through the room. Place anything in the box that A: Doesn't belong in the room. B: Hasn’t been used in weeks. C: Is ugly, not practically useful, or just plain junk.

Place box in garage for later “going through”. (Yes, I just suggested just moving your clutter from one place to the next. It's the holidays. Time to decorate!)

Re-Arrange!

Another easy decorating tip for the holidays! Nothing feels fresher than a new arrangement for a room. Chances are you have to make room for your tree anyway, so take the time to figure out a dynamic room arrangement that will work well after the tree comes down! Oh, and did I mention?
